Property Description
Bedrooms: 3. Bathrooms: 2
Originally built in 1867, the “Weaver” building, as it is known in the
county, was completely remodeled from 2001-2005. Since its new paint
job in 2004, the building is now often referred to as the “Boardwalk
and Park Place” of Downieville.
The section of the building
on Main St. that originally housed a dry goods store, is now home of
Yuba Expeditions (http://www.yubaexpeditons.com) , Downieville’s host
to the Downieville Classic.
The third story, originally
storage for the store, was remodeled into rental loft accommodations
complete with hand made furniture and trim salvaged from Kezar
stadium bleachers in San Francisco.
The loft sleeps up to
eight guests and has spectacular river side and mountain views, a
large dining room and kitchen area, two fireplaces and two full
baths.
The downstairs basement is the “Yuba Lounge”, a
central meeting point where mountain bikers catch the shuttle for the
famous Downieville Downhill and rafters meet to attempt the Class V
Maytag run. Overlooking the confluence of the Downie and North Yuba
rivers on the Main St. of town, this building has been the center of
activity since the Gold Rush Days. Opened as a vacation rental in
the summer of 2005 after a 4 year renovation, the 2,500 square ft
loft is a great getaway for the family or a group of friends looking
to have every luxury of home while enjoying the beautiful Sierra
Nevada.
