Only two miles down to sea level and unique black Pebble Beach for swimming, snorkeling, an easy kayak launching spot and whale sightings (in winter). It is also very convenient to everything the Big Island has to offer. There are many great beaches nearby, offering hiking or easy parking, but all outstanding and different. They include Homomalino Beach (black sand beach), Miloli'i Beach Park, Ho'okena (famous for spinner dolphin sightings), historic Place of Refuge National Park dating from the 1500's (with Hawaiian cultural displays, former royal canoe landing, ancient rock walls) and excellent snorkeling) and Kealakekua Bay. Located in the heart of ranches (with rodeo grounds), Kona coffee and macademia nut farms and mills as well as fruit stands and country stores offering local produce. . All these are a 30 minute or less drive away. It is also an easy drive into "downtown" Kailua-Kona for extensive shopping, dining, movie theaters and boat harbor. Or the Volcano National Park is an easy day trip away. The home boasts a new fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances as well as new hardwood and tile floors.
