The Castello is a beautiful ancient castle, situated high above Cupra Marittima, on the Adriatic Coast. It is a romantic and peaceful location for honeymooners with private suites for two or houses situated within the Castello for families wishing to enjoy the tranquility of the rich Marches landscape and be close to the sea. Cupra Marittima is in the southern most province of Ascoli Piceno and unlike its Tuscan and Umbrian neighbors, remains unspoilt. It is only 2 and 1/2 hours from Rome, and just under three hours from Florence. The buildings are ancient and historic lending the Castello to be a very romantic honeymoon vacation spot. There are quiet suites which contain a living room with a cozy fireplace, table and chairs, all separate from the dining area where you can be served privately, by your own catered "servant". You will be catered to as if you were royalty, or you will be left alone...as you wish. In addition, families with children would enjoy the idea of staying in a "castle", high above the sea, with breathtaking views of the nearby beach. One could roam the beautiful fruit garden, explore the historic surroundings, and spend days swimming in the gentle waters of the Adriatic. The Castello di Marano’s history dates back many centuries. The original Castello was built upon the old site of Cupra which was destroyed by the Moors in the 8thCentury and much of the present buildings date from the 14th and 15th Centuries, the Palazzo di Francesco Sforza among them. The Castello grounds also contain many other ancient buildings including a church, Chiesa di Santa Maria dating from the 13th Century. There are also substantial gardens surrounding the Castello and guests staying in the Apartments and houses have free use of them all year round. Views from the walled gardens down across Olive groves to the sea are spectacular and one can only really appreciate the beauty of the Castello di Marano by visiting and staying as a guest in one of the Apartments or Houses that make up the Estate. The Castello di Marano is within easy reach of the beach at Cupramarittima, being less than a kilometre by foot and two kilometres by car. The beach has the usual array of sun beds and brightly coloured umbrellas found in Italian beach resorts and also available for hire are Beach huts from the local Hotels.
