Furnished with prairie-period antiques this bedroom features a high quality matress on a full-size bed. 
The 2nd Bedroom features a Bunk-Bed with Twin on Top and Full on Bottom. The room also has a writing desk with compliment greeting cards and envelopes as well as board games, puzzles, and a few toys for the younger children. 
The Enclosed Patio area is off the Living Room. It is spacious and comfy, perfect for family Bar-B-Qs and play. There is a gas Bar-B-Q and dining table on the lower deck of the patio. Smoking is allowed in this area. 
The dining area on the interior is perfect for the family of four, but can easily include two more family members. It is adjacent to the self-service/self-catering kitchen. 
The kitchen is filled with kitchenware and the stocked shelves include Bar-B-Q condiments, cereals, coffee, teas, cocoa, snacks, spices, and other meal helpfuls.
When you arrive, the mini-fridge will have sodas and bottled water. You will also find garden fresh veggies either in a bowl on the table or in the fridge, depending on the type of veggie. 
There is a computer and desk so that you can easily check your email or allow the kids to surf the net during quiet times. The entire cottage has High Speed Wireless Internet access, so you will have no problem accessing the Internet via your laptop. (The computer system has a separate CD Burner/Player connected to it.) 
The living room features a Futon Couch that easy makes into a bed. Extra bedding is found in the chest pictured. We also have a roll-away bed in the closet, so lots of sleeping choices. AND, we do allow kids to bring their sleeping bags. We never charge for children, and their is a high chair in the cottage. 
Your family will appreciate the complimentary Organically Grown Fresh Garden Veggies we furnish. We always have a vegetable garden and we always share the bounty with our guests!

The Prairie Cottage is a two-bedroom private restored prairie
farmhouse that is the perfect vacation rental for a family of 4-6.
It features a full-sized bed in the master bedroom, a bunk-bed in the
2nd bedroom (single on top/full on bottom) and a futon couch that
makes into a bed. (There is also a roll-away bed in the closet.)
This is a self-catering rental for families that want to be close to
the Iowa Great Lakes, but save money on lodging and meals. The
kitchen has a microwave, a compact refrigerator, dishes, silverware,
cups, glasses, toaster, electric grill, snacks in the cubboards,
sodas in the frig, cereals, hot cocoa, coffee, a variety of teas, and
bar-b-q condiments. The living area features a video collection,
Cable TV, a desktop computer with Wireless High Speed Internet
access, a CD/Cassette player, board games, puzzles, books, a few toys
for the younger set and a small library of prairie plant
identification guides. (Guests love to use these in the native
prairie gardens and see how many of the flowers, forbs and grasses
they can ID.) The Prairie Cottage feels like home away from home in
the relaxed and quiet rural community of Fostoria -- only ten minutes
from the shores of Lake Okoboji, and the cities of Arnold's Park, West
Okoboji, Milford and Spencer. The main attractions of the area are
the glacier-carved lakes -- a chain of lakes extends from the
Minnesota border southwest several miles and covers about fifteen
thousand acres. The Iowa Great Lakes include Iowa’s largest natural
lake, Spirit Lake and five interconnected lakes: West Okoboji, East
Okoboji, Upper Gar, Lower Gar and Minnewashta. Spring-fed West Lake
Okoboji is a beautiful shade of blue and 134' deep. It is the
centerpiece of the five chain lakes. The City of Fostoria is the
southern gateway to Lake Okoboji. The Prairie Cottage is just one
block off Hwy. 71. Fast and easy access to the main highway leading
to all the Iowa Great Lakes. The Iowa Great Lakes area in the
spring or summer ranks on the top list of places to go fishing or
have family fun. Blue skies and crisp clean air are generally
predominant during the summer months. Outdoor sports to enjoy include
fishing, canoeing, biking, hiking, boating, cycling and golfing, just
to name a few. Feel free to bring your boat as we have ample parking
for your vehicles at no additional charge.
