Enjoy breath-taking sunrises over the nearby islands of beautiful Penobscot Bay, as you sip your morning coffee on the deck. Watch the tiny lobstering village slowly come to life as lobstermen steam off to haul and land fresh Maine lobster ... that are later delivered right to your door!

This large (1000 sq/ft), 2-story cottage comfortably sleeps six people and is charmingly furnished. The 1st floor has a queen bed in one bedroom, and a queen & two twin beds in the other. A full bathroom is accessed from the common hallway with a large deck overlooking the open ocean. The 2nd floor has a large dining table (seats 6) and a fully equipped kitchen. An open, spacious living area, with easy chair, love seat and 2 couches (one is double fold-out futon), opens to a deck overlooking the open ocean and nearby islands.

The island's peaceful, serene surroundings and its lack of distractions by tourism, allow families to bond and re-establish close relationships. Take a boat ride to Matinicus Rock Lighthouse where legendary heroine lightkeeper, Abbie Burgess, once worked & lived. Kayak to, or walk to a large sandy crescent beach overlooking nearby Criehaven Island, where writer Elisabeth Ogilvie's "Bennett's Island" book series novels are based upon... many of these literary works are vailable in the cottage library for your reading enjoyment.

For your added pleasure, fresh bakery goods are delivered to you by a local baker. Trips to the island from the mainland are arranged through the Matinicus Excursions passenger ferry service in Rockland, or by personal water crafts.
