Walk across the road to access the Donner Lake shoreline and five public docks. There is a sweeping panorama view of Donner Lake from the deck, living room, dining room and kitchen. The house has a great room which includes the living room , dining room and kitchen. The ceiling is pitched exposed beam knotty pine. The furniture is early American maple and oak. The decor has many family home made crafts. There are antique skis, ice skates and sleds high up on the walls for decoration. All the rooms are on one floor. The living room has an instant on gas fireplace to compliment a cozy evening or brisk morning. Shopping is conveniently close. There are many restaurants in historic downtown Truckee about five minutes from the home. North Lake Tahoe is a fifteen minute drive. Casino gambling and shows are in Reno or North Lake Tahoe, Nevada, a short drive of one half hour. The area is great for spring, summer or fall vacations. The home is surrounded by huge granite boulders deposited there from Donner Summit. There are many Jeffrey Pines around the house in a park like setting. Donner Lake is at the 6,000 foot elevation and surrounded by mountains that are over 8,000 feet. The view from Donner Summit is spectacular. Drive up to the viewing area near historic Rainbow Bridge and look down on Donner Lake. There are many hikes in the area. You can explore the many glacial lakes on the nearby Pacific Crest Trail. Donner Lake has a public boat launch ramp at the west end. There are many beaches in Donner Memorial State Park one half mile from the house. There is also a public West End Beach. Boats, kayaks, paddle boats, canoes and jet skis are available for rent at Donner Lake.
