The Periwinkle Cottage is a cozy mid-century cottage with traditional
charm throughout. From the moment you step inside, you'll be
reminded of those cabins you stayed in during your summer vacation as
a kid. The living room has knotty-pine walls with wood floors
throughout all of the rooms. It's like a step back in time, but with
all of the modern conveniences. The home has just been renovated with
a new metal roof, new wiring, new plumbing and fixtures, new bathroom
and new kitchen appliances. Take a look at the photos of all the
rooms, and you'll see the Periwinkle Cottage has maintained it's
original vintage charm. This is because we used recycled (original)
materials as much as possible and we decorated with fun,
beach-cottage colors. According to the feedback from the guests, The
Periwinkle Cottage is a fun place to stay. It's a relaxing,
comfortable space that is far more enjoyable than a hotel room,
because there are no strangers on the other side of the bedroom
wall. Kids especially love the Bunk room, with the built-in alcove
bunk beds. Each bunk bed has a built-in night stand with a place for
you to put your Ipod, cell phone, game device or your favorite book.
We thought of everything! Each of these bunk beds also has their own
individually controlled light so you can read your favorite book
without disturbing your bunk-mate. Adults will also appreciate the
bunk beds, because they were sized with adults in mind. Each bunk
has a full 36" of head-room from mattress-to-ceiling; roomy enough so
that most adults should not bump their head or have those
claustrophobic feelings. The inspirations for the colors in the bunk
room were taken from a recent trip to one of the island's many Mexican
restaurants. The interior of each bunk is the color of limeade; think
of your favorite frozen margarita! The walls were inspired by
guacamole; don't forget the chips & salsa! The two shades of green
go well together; and with coordinated linens the space reminds you
that you're on vacation and you're supposed to be having fun! The
kitchen is just as cheerful as it could possibly be. We've used
retro colors that are bright and funl. The kitchen renovations
included new appliances, counter tops, sink and a custom designed
built-in booth that has seating for six adults. The kitchen table
was made from recycled materials; vintage siding from Galveston
homes. Take a look at the PHOTOS page, and you'll see the table was
attached to the floor with meta
