Follow a private, 700-foot drive through hemlock and pine, maple, and birch. Situated in a woodland clearing and perched at the base of Overlook Mountain, our 1920's Craftsman house features wideboard floors and rough-cut walls from the property's own oak and pine. Warmed by a woodburning stove, the sky-lit kitchen is fully equipped and great to cook in -- a big red island counter is the place where everyone hangs out. The adjacent dining room table accommodates large holiday meals (we've seated up to 12). Three comfy bedrooms are decorated with original wallpaper and offer dreamy treetop views. Minutes to Woodstock (Film Festival, music, art) and Saugerties (antiquing, HITS). Deer and birds make their homes in the low-bush blueberry and Mountain Laurel outside your door. A path circles our property -- a perfect nature walk for kids -- leads to a moss-carpeted forest overlooking a seasonal stream, and onward to an abandoned bluestone quarry where porcupine, fox, and rabbits live.
