Great House, Poor Property Management

Eight days of hiking in Oregon with friends made the trip from Massachusetts completely worth it. However, the management of the property was completely unprofessional. We selected this more expensive house based on the advertised hot tub and dog fence. Neither of these listed amenities were functional when we arrived. Not getting what we paid for was clearly a disappointment. However, the responses to our phone and email messages were even more frustrating. The dates we agreed on for our stay (and bought plane tickets around) were changed by the owner a few days before we arrived. Several calls and emails about the non-functional hot tub were met with a message from the caretaker saying it would be fixed, and then messages from the owner saying the hot tub was not intended to be available for guest use and was not advertised. Other messages about the fence, propane, and hot tub were not responded to at all. After requesting a partial refund to bring the price of the stay in line with other properties that did not have a fence or hot tub, we were accused of having a "negative attitude", making up the facts that the fence and hot tub were listed as part of the rental listing, and causing damage to the property. With limited time to enjoy an Oregon vacation, making a rental agreement with owners who were unprofessional and did not deliver what they advertised was a mistake. It's a good thing the same can't be said about the hiking trails.
